The idea of Forever Green Landscapes was born in 2013.
We had just bought a new construction home when we moved back to northeast Wisconsin from the Milwaukee area.
After the dust settled (literally and figuratively) after our move, we realized we have this beautiful new home, but nothing but dirt outside.
It was time to get the lawn installed.
I called around to several landscape contractors and asked to get quotes on seeding a new lawn.
Wow, I was not prepared for how fast the costs can add up. Plus, I was told we couldn't even use the lawn for 3-6 months.
Real sticker shock hit me when I dared to ask how much it would be to sod our new lawn.
There had to be a different approach. I grew up around underground utility construction so I do have experience running all of the equipment needed for grading and prepping the yard.
It turns out roughly 50% of the cost of installing a newly sodded yard is labor.
With three little kids I knew that sweat equity will always be my best option. So that's what I did. I graded and prepped my own yard and with the help of a group of family and friends we were able to sod my entire .45 acre yard in a morning.
Ten days later, I was mowing my new lawn.
I thought to myself, there has to be others out there just like me.
